Hilton has practiced law in Indonesia for over 30 years including 8 years as general counsel of a diversified Indonesian investment group.
His work is primarily in the commercial and investment areas with particular expertise in M&A and joint ventures. His sector focuses include mining and energy, infrastructure, realty development, insurance and NBFIs, manufacturing and distribution, retail (including licensing), and education, representing both foreign and Indonesian investors.
Hilton has long term specialist experience in major project transactions, acting primarily for the project company and sponsors, but also for EPC contractors and lenders. He has acted on a wide range of power, mining, oil and gas (upstream and downstream), port and toll road sector projects. He has also acted for successful bidders of Indonesian government privatizations of port and pipeline projects.
He has represented a number of IPPs in Indonesia through the development phase, operating IPPs, and was engaged in several PPA restructurings with PT PLN. He has significant contract negotiation experience, and an in depth understanding of the Indonesian investment and regulatory environment.
Hilton is a member of The Board of Trustees of the British International School, Jakarta (Legal Secretary), and is Honorary Legal Advisor to the British Ambassador to Indonesia.
