M&T Celebrating World Down's Syndrome Day 2021

One of the values that Makarim & Taira S. (“M&T”) holds dearly is inclusivity – a recognition that everyone brings with them unique potentials and when given a chance, can contribute for the good of society. In recent years, the firm has focused its CSR program on young people with Down’s Syndrome. One of the programs that was successfully implemented before the pandemic was an internship program in which the firm hired young people with Down’s Syndrome to work in the office. Together, we proved that they could contribute to the firm in their own special ways.
Earlier this month, to celebrate World Down's Syndrome Day, which is an annual global awareness day advocating for the rights, inclusion, and well-being of individuals with down's syndrome, Makarim & Taira S. held an ‘M&T Painting Competition for young people with Down’s Syndrome’. Through this activity, we hope to provide these special individuals opportunities to demonstrate their potential and be acknowledged by others. And, last Sunday, on World Down’s Syndrome Day, 21st of March 2021, we proudly awarded 13 paintings from 13 super talented young Indonesians with Down's Syndrome, who not only have won the Painting Competition, but also our hearts.

Today, celebrating the 2022 World Down’s Syndrome Day, we are proud to share a video of 32 talented young people with Down’s Syndrome from the ISDI dancing to a song by Meghan Trainor, “Better when I’m Dancing.” With this video, we hope to let the world know just how amazing they are and to continue to advocate for the rights of people with Down’s Syndrome.
