At Makarim & Taira S., we realize that making a positive impact on society goes beyond fulfilling our responsibilities as an organization. It’s about recognizing the challenges that others face and taking action to create lasting change and a more compassionate world.
For over a decade, our firm has actively engaged in various social issues, from education and the environment to health and inclusivity programs for young adults with special needs. Makarim & Taira S. has always been a family that comes together to contribute and raise awareness for important social causes.
This year, during our recent outing to Labuan Bajo on Flores Island, we had the privilege of connecting with a wonderful community in one of the local villages. Despite their beautiful natural surroundings, many of the villagers are afflicted by stunting.
Recognizing the significance of this issue, and in alignment with the Indonesian government’s mission to prepare for the Golden Generation of 2045, we chose stunting prevention as part of our CSR program for 2023.
Our visit to Nggorang Village in Komodo Subdistrict, Manggarai Barat, NTT, was met with warmth and enthusiasm from the local community, with around 300 mothers and their young children in attendance. The event commenced with speeches from our Managing Partner, maria sagrado, and the Village Secretary, Robertus Rita. Next, the charismatic Dr. Maria Claudya Bay provided insightful counseling on stunting prevention.
During our visit, we delivered 300 packages of essential items, including groceries, baby foods, vitamins, educational toys, and medical equipment such as baby scales for the Posyandu (integrated healthcare services post), all made possible through contributions from our firm and employees. Some of our team members had the joy of playing with the children, infusing the event with energy and laughter. A definite highlight of the day was a spirited quiz session, where mothers competed to answer questions posed by the doctor. The winners received prizes provided by the firm.
While our outing to Labuan Bajo was memorable in so many ways, this particular activity left an indelible mark on our hearts. It allowed us to meet the resilient mothers and children of Nggorang Village. Above all, it reminded us of the profound beauty in compassion, as we were given a chance to alleviate a small portion of their pain.
At Makarim & Taira S., we believe that the true essence of CSR involves creating lasting value and sustainability, not just momentary gestures. In witnessing the joy and smiles to the faces of those we touch, we remain committed to making a meaningful difference through nurturing the spirit of compassion and giving.
